PHYSICO-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES ANND MICROSTRUCTURE RESPONSES OF HYBRID REINFORCED Al6063 COMPOSITES TO PKSA/SiC INCLUSION

The study examined the microstructure and mechanical properties of Al-Mg-Si alloy reinforced with palm kernel shell ash (PKSA) silicon carbide (SiC). matrix was SiC (2 - 8 wt.%) PKSA wt.%). double stir-casting method used to prepare hybrid composite. produced samples were evaluated based on ASTM standards. Identification phases present in composite done using a PANalytical Empyrean diffractometer, while microstructural characterization scanning electron machine dispersive spectrometer attachment. density values increase as contents composites increase. As reinforcement particulates increase, improved hardness value (73 – 85.5 BHN); yield strength (81 102 MPa); ultimate tensile (123 133 MPa) compared 73 BHN, 79 MPa, 116 respectively. However, percentage elongation fracture toughness reduced 34.2 40.11%, identified Al, SiO2, Fe3Si, MgO, SiC. synthesized would be applicable building materials such aluminium frames roofing sheets.
